Gelegen in het noorden van Texas, is Amarillo een kleine stad in het Texas Panhandle-gebied. Grotere steden zoals Albuquerque en Dallas liggen op 5 uur rijden. Amarillo is een toegangspoort tot het uitgestrekte, met trails omzoomde Palo Duro Canyon State Park. Het staat ook bekend om de Cadillac Ranch, een installatie van met graffiti versierde auto's, deels begraven in een veld, langs de beroemde Route 66. Het historische district is een geweldige plek voor dineren en antiekwinkels.
