New owners (Greene King's) have destroyed this place

Used to love this place, then they closed to disco down stairs (made it a straight panio bar) The renovations they did to this place, (waste of money it looked terrible afterwards) the drinks are very expensive !!!!! The atmosphere is horrible now, not many people go there any more, Greene King's the owners have not got a clue what they are doing, said they would keep it as a gay venue (then closes the gay disco downstairs LOL) I've been down stairs a couple of times since it got turned into piano bar (normal just a hand full of people in there all straight ), gone or the good old days when this place used to be packed full. I don't expect this place will be open for much longer as a gay venue, guys. Do not waste your money as - it's crap now..

    over priced

Well apparently it's gay again, although last night it was a mainly straight crowd, and certainly nothing like the good old days when you had to squeeze through the crowd to get to the loos! However, at more than £5 for a pint this is not a venue I could afford to go to any more. We can blame the beer tax, business rates, high rents etc, but if one of Greene King's competitors in London can manage to sell a pint for around half this price, it just looks greedy. Perhaps they should abandon their 2 for 1 early deals to make a regular pint a bit more affordable. There's just no way students or people on modest incomes can afford to go out at these prices.

    Great place to go out

Quebec has been refurbished both in the main bar and in the basement bar, now it looks really bright, stylish and still chilled. The stage that has been built a while ago provides a better view of the acts... ah yes, there's a lot going on at Quebec. So on Sundays Cabaret/live music is going on. From Wednesday until Saturdays the music lovers can enjoy a trendy and bit posh-y piano bar downstairs which is London's only singalong place currently. Thursdays are Karaoke day so I guess I can say that they really work hard after years of bad luck with the previous management and the bar is coming back to the gay scene again!

After so many years it's no longer a gay bar, don't bother wasting your time or money.

It’s a gay bar again! Yay, after a year or two of going “straight”, it’s back to being as gay as Oz. Flags everywhere and back to having gay bartenders. Love it.

    Really nice place

First visit i was impressed, but pleasantly surprised to see a mix of people from gay straight Bi & lesbian. Good bar prices for West End, clean comfortable. I wish I had stayed longer for the disco. But pulled & was off for some intimacy.

    Aggressive manager

Terribly aggressive manager, bad mannered mainly with older people. Loud musique that unable to communicate with barmans in a polite a proper way in order to buy drinks. It is not recommended.

    New management.

I go to the City of Quebec every few months or so. Manager and staff were not bad and generally welcoming and the nights were enjoyable. My last visit though was different. The new manager was targeting the older regulars and had a couple ejected for no observable reason. Don't know if she is wanting to turn it into a lesbian venue? Certainly got some agenda.

There's no point for rentboys or hustlers being here in search of business. The place is aka 'Elephant's Graveyard' (google it) due to the older customers enjoying the company of young gerontophiles who are simply into old men. There's no transaction involved. And it has been the same for many decades, I think the pub is like 200 years old. And therefore, the youngsters you have seen are either rentboys who will not come back, or the usual young crowd with no need to be monitored by the staff.
